Corona virus: An important update

How we are protecting our customers, staff and community

The news couldn’t be a lot worse at the moment. A global pandemic is frightening and could affect many people we know and love. So it’s important to take steps to protect those around us to help reduce its impact and ensure that we beat it. We would like to reassure our customers that we will be here to look after them and do our bit to support measures to protect those around us. This is Direct Gap’s approach.

Your cover

Taking out insurance with Direct Gap means that you have cover with an established and well run business that has always met its obligations and ensured that our customers are properly covered. Whilst the current health emergency is very worrying and no one really knows what the outlook is in the long term, we wanted to reassure you that we are in the best possible position to weather this storm.

Direct Gap is a well-capitalised business which means we have not needed to borrow in order to run our business. All our capital requirements with the FCA are met, our insurance and membership of professional organisations is up to date and we have a full business continuity plan in place.

Our staff

Our staff are the key to our success so we are looking after them. Everyone is able to work remotely to ensure that they don’t need to take undue risks with their health – or that of their loved ones.

Please do call us if you would like to take out insurance or make a claim. We are operating normal business hours and our team are ready for your call.

Our systems

Our telephony system has, for some time, been extremely advanced and can handle remote working. All our calls are recorded – wherever our staff are. All our policy data is secured in the cloud and is never kept on individual computers. This means it’s stored securely with sensitive data encrypted.

Modern communication systems mean we can still chat to each other online and work as a team. This means our staff can continue to provide the excellent and knowledgeable service we provide - wherever they are.

Our approach

Although we expect there to be fewer car sales for the next few months – and so fewer people needing gap insurance – we will be paying our staff for all their standard hours as usual. Our aim is to protect their jobs and ensure that we will come out of this difficult period in the best shape possible.

I have built this company over 11 years, this has only been achieved by working with the fantastic team of staff we have.  Our employees have been pivotal to our success and as such they come first. As Managing Director my staff and suppliers are paid first. If this pandemic impacts the company over a longer period, so that we have to reduce hours or pay, my pay is the first to be cut. We’ll get through this together.

Thank you for your support and custom,

James Cartwright
